In early-2004, Vino Conte was helping Fattoria Montecchio to handle the shippment from Italy to HK. In August-2013, after a long consideration, to enhance the linkage with Italian wineries, we set up a new wine department and officially named it “VINO CONTE”.
“Vino” means “Wine” .
“Conte” means “Earl”.
We named this department because of the history of one of the most well known wine in Italy, the Chianti Classico red wine.
– An eventful and passionate past –
A historical Eighteenth century mansion house lies on the top of a hill overlooking the charming medieval town of San Donato in Poggio, right in the heart of Chianti Classico. It is the headquarters and centre of activity of the farm and was formerly owned by the Marchesi Torrigiani, the well-known family of Florence which had their own palace Palazzo Bartolini Torrigiani in downtown dating back to 1520. The Montecchio estate itself, also includes a lovingly cared for park, an old tower dating back to 920, built for defensive purposes during the struggle between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines, and an old furnace, dating back to 1700, which still produces highly quality hand-made terracotta.

– About Italian wines –
– The raw material of wine: GRAPES –
The main kind of grapes that plant in Italy:
Red grapes: Barbera, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese
White grapes: Moscato, Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano
Furthermore there are also non-official grapes: Chardonnay(white) & Merlot(red), which are once used in the making of Italian grapes wines. Of course for different types of grapes obviously there will be different tastes and characteristics, but even though for same type of grapes, because of different climate & soils, will grow out individually with different specific characteristics. Add up with different technology of wine maker & casting by different wineries, will make the same type of grapes wine carry with different style & taste that undergoes with evolution.
